Born in Naperville Illinois and raised in Lebanon Pennsylvania,

Katelyn Lau Adams was captivated by the visual and musical arts at an early age. She became more serious during her studies in the Fine Arts program at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. Since graduating in 2007, Katelyn has exhibited her work in various shows and installments within Pennsylvania. She continues to develop her artistic perspective, and study her love of moody, expressive figurative pieces; in particular, through a strong concentration in oil and watercolor painting as well as photography and design.

Artist Statement

I’m most interested in capturing the expression, overall likeness, and feeling of my subjects. I enjoy drawing the viewer in, both by scale and curiosity-having them see a realistic, figurative painting from far away, and upon moving closer, discovering an abstract world happening within it.  I’m fascinated by how much of an impact the smallest detail can make, or on the other hand, how the more underdeveloped and abstract something is, the more realistic it can look. The push and pull of tight and loose brush strokes throughout pieces allows things to remain uncertain; spontaneous and fun.
